About Terry

Chef Terry is in love with the beautiful food grown and produced in Northern California, and the cultural diversity woven through the food. Her classes and menus highlight and make accesible seasonally relevant vegetables and fruit grown by local farmers. Terry believes food is a delicious way to create and build community with friends, both old and new, and a focus for family gatherings. Terry has 35 years of experience in the food world, mostly in catering and event planning.
Traveling the world to immerse in local cuisines and cultures, some of Terry’s favorite places include India, Turkey, Mexico and France. She brings these adventures into her recipes and classes.
Terry’s love of food started with her first cookbook from her dad when she was 7 years old. After a stint cooking in hotels and pubs in Europe, Terry returned to Chicago to go to cooking school and grow her career working with gourmet caterers.
Terry’s private chef services focus on getting to know the likes and needs of her clients. She can make practically anything a client and their family wants! Terry also has experience developing recipes and menus that meet the needs of the nutritional or medical needs of her clients. She works with sustainable ingredients.
Cooking classes might include making appetizers for entertaining, the basics of delicious vegan food or how to wow your friends with a Mediterranean feast! Terry’s classes are a fun way to learn food traditions, ingredient sourcing, and, of course, cooking techniques.
To help folks with the rising food insecurity during the pandemic, Terry co-founded Chefs for the People to produce meals and to employ cooks that had lost their jobs during the pandemic.
For 6 years, Terry was the catering director at Market Hall, the amazing food marketplace in Oakland, CA. Our catering department won Best Of Oakland every year.
